UT University Health Services

Contraception

University Health Services provides education about and access to a wide variety of contraceptive methods. Through our Women's Health, we offer prescriptions for birth control pills and the NuvaRing®, insertion of the ParaGard® and Mirena® intrauterine devices, insertion of the Nexplanon® implant, diaphragm prescription fitting, and administration of the Depo-Provera shot. Prior to seeing a provider in the Women's Health, you can learn more about each of these methods and figure out which one is right for you by watching our Contraception for College Students video series.

Emergency contraception (sold as Plan B One-Step® or Next Choice®) is available without a prescription at the Forty Acres Pharmacy, which is operated by the UT College of Pharmacy and is in the Student Services Building, room 1.110.

Condoms are the only method that provide protection against both pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Condom education is a part of the Contraception for College Students video series. UT students may pick up three free condoms each day in the Office of Health Promotion (SSB 1.106). A variety of condoms are also available for purchase in the Forty Acres Pharmacy.
